asukayama is a famous park in my neighborhood, known for having been favored by the Tokugawa shogunate. not entirely sure whcih one of the shogun’s we’re talking about here, but whichever it was, he had good taste. asukayama is beautiful in spring - and of course, beautiful during sakura season. because we live so close by, my roommate Taylor and I ended up essentially (though not intentionally) taking turns going to check on the progress of the park sakura for about a few in early april. the city ward office organized a sakura festival the first weekend and we were so psyched - only to realize the sakura wouldn’t really bloom until the next weekend. still, I think between the two of us we visited the park at least three times before the following weekend, you know, just to check in case the flowers were blooming yet.
and by at least three times between us, I mean Taylor might have popped by once like a normal person while I was slightly more obsessive. ehm. I ended up with a nice collection of photos as a result, at least?
